Fraudulent Employment Offer Warning

It has come to our attention that British Airways is the focus of a recruitment scam in which people are being offered fictitious employment opportunities with us and being asked to send personal details and / or money to progress a visa application to fraudsters.

This type of scam is not uncommon and we hope to help people to avoid falling for this or similar scams.

Please be advised that:

  • British Airways recruitment processes usually involve personal interviews at our premises.

  • British Airways will never ask for money, nor ask you to email / scan or otherwise send copies of personal documents.

  • British Airways is currently not offering sponsorships

  • All genuine email correspondence from BA will come from an ‘@ba.com’ email address.

  • British Airways does not use any ‘yahoo.com’, ‘gmail.com’, ‘googlemail.com’ ‘msn.com’, ‘online.com’ or ‘live.com’ email addresses, nor those of any other email provider.

  • The UK Government (including the Home Office) uses ‘gov.uk’ email addresses, and not those of the providers mentioned above.

  • The only genuine British Airways Recruitment phone line is 0870 608 0747. We will never ask you to contact us at a mobile phone number.

  • British Airways does not use the services of www.motionexperts.org, nor travel-motionexpertsuk@live.com.

    More information:

  • Visas into the UK are controlled by the UK Borders Agency (UKBA) and their website (www. ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk) details the various routes into the UK.

  • Information on scams and other frauds may be found on the Financial Services Authority website: www.fsa.gov.uk or the Metropolitan Police website: Click here

Recruitment fraud can be very convincing – often victims are sent faked offer letters and contracts. Fraudsters claim to arrange UK visas (or travel, couriers, legal services etc) by supplying contact information for another part of their organisation, the idea being victims then send personal information and money off to the contact in the belief that a legitimate visa will be issued. Typically, the fraudsters insist on urgency and may even offer to part-pay the visa costs.

    What to do:

  • Do not reply to unsolicited emails

  • Do not disclose any personal or financial details

  • Do not send any money

  • Please contact our Recruitment Team if you are at all suspicious of any employment offers at BA you receive and we will confirm their legitimacy.

  • Report the matter to your local police
