Finance has a crucial role to
play across the airline. As competition within our industry becomes increasingly intense, so our contribution to
ensuring a profitable organisation becomes more important than ever. Our primary role is to drive the bottom
line and act as a strong corporate conscience. We embrace a huge range of disciplines, and become involved in
everything from alliance strategies to processing efficiencies. Our main areas of activity are: Accounting Operations This is the largest single department within Finance, and is
responsible for carrying out the bulk of the airline's financial processing. It has four main tasks: keeping the
books, paying creditors, collecting money owed to us, and resolving financial queries. Treasury Treasury ensures that our finances are well managed. Specific activities include
managing our foreign exchange, arranging loans, dealing with interest rate fluctuations, managing risk, and
financial dealing. Internal Audit Internal audit review company business processes
worldwide from both an operational and financial perspective, concentrating on high risk areas. We work with senior
management to improve business efficiency and strengthen controls. Technical Operations
Finance As its name suggests, this department supports our technical operations including Engineering,
Flight Operations, Procurement & Contracts, Operations Planning, Business Development & Projects, and IT. Working on
the simple TIC (Transparency, Integrity and Consistency) principle, we assist with business decisions from planning
and budgeting to day-to-day spending and forecasting. Who we recruit The
opportunities within Finance are as diverse as our global operations. In many ways it is almost a world within a
world, and people who join us have a variety of career opportunities open to them. We recruit a mix of
qualified or part-qualified accountants (CIMA, ACA or ACCA), as well as a range of administrative and support staff.
Career development is then enhanced through our first class training programmes and experience across different
roles. |
