Frequently Asked Questions Here are some of the questions we're most frequently asked, together with our answers. Can I choose the area I want to work in? You can state a preference for the area of the business you are interested in and we will take that into account when looking at what opportunities we have available, we will also ask you if you would like to be considered for other placements if your preference is oversubscribed. Will I be able to extend my Placement? Current employment legislation means Placements cannot be longer than 51 weeks in total. If your placement is for less time than that, you may in certain circumstances be able to extend it up to 51 weeks. What holiday entitlement will I have? You will be entitled to 22 days holiday per annum, pro rata to be taken during your placement. Are there opportunities to travel and work abroad? Most placements are based in the Heathrow area, however, some maybe at our regional offices around the UK. For some projects or assignments, there may be an element of travel, although this will be limited. Will I be entitled to British Airways staff benefits? No. Do I need the right to live & work (RTL&W) in the UK? Yes. You need the RTL&W in the UK for the duration of the placement. If you believe you have the RTL&W, you will have to provide evidence i.e. passport. My passport is non-EU? Can I apply? Yes, as long as you have the RTL&W in the UK, for the duration of the placement. Will BA apply for a training visa and support me, as I don’t have the ‘right to live & work’ (RTL&W)? No. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the scheme, you must have the RTL&W at the point of application. We are unable to support employment or training visas.
