Jonathan - Production and Materials Manager

What do you find most satisfying about your role?

The feeling of responsibility and accountability.

What do you find most frustrating?

On occasions, not having enough time to think.

Describe a project you are particularly proud of.

Developing and implementing a new Leading Technician position at BA Component Engineering. This has given the production organisation a proper structure and allows mechanics and technicians to progress.

Can you recall a particularly memorable experience?

We'd agreed some targets with the workshop, and all the staff had put in a great deal of work to overcome the usual difficulties engineers experience. I remember the day I was able to thank the team, which I did by giving them a British Airways embossed maglite torch. I was taken aback by their sense of surprise and appreciation.

What's your favourite film?

American Beauty. It made me appreciate life for what it is, and I resolved to enjoy life as much as possible after seeing it.

What did you want to be when you were eight years old?

An astronaut.

What three qualities do you see as being important in your job?

A sense of humour, open-mindedness and determination.

What's your ideal Sunday?

Waking up to a bright, crisp, calm autumn morning. I put some coffee on, have a leisurely breakfast with my fiancäe, and arrange to play golf with some friends. We have a few beers in the bar after the golf and watch England beat the All Blacks with a big crowd of England fans.
